I have experience teaching introductory courses to philosophy and ethics. The structure of these courses largely draw on Pierre Hadot’s conception of philosophy as a way of life. Readings focus on conceptions of the Good Life and spiritual practices in ancient authors like Plato, Aristotle, Epicurus, Epictetus, and Sextus Empiricus, as well as challenges to living well posed by contemporary figures like Marx, Nietzsche, and Adorno. In these courses I aim to instill both a love for philosophy and thinking that is both critical and creative.
